Creative Commons & 3D Print Licenses
3D print licenses are legal authorizations set by model creators that determine how digital files and physical prints may be used, distributed, or commercialized. Common licenses include Creative Commons variants and platform-specific digital file licenses.
Licences decide whether a print can be sold at all, and therefore whether it can carry a price. Commercial licences create revenue; NC licences create legal risk - verify before quoting.

Licenses allowing physical prints to be sold commercially include CC BY (Attribution), CC BY-SA (ShareAlike), CC BY-ND (NoDerivatives), and CC0 / Public Domain. As long as attribution requirements are satisfied, makers can sell printed objects legally.
Non-Commercial (Personal Use Only) Licenses
Licenses containing the NC clause — such as CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-SA, and MakerWorld’s Standard Digital File License — prohibit selling physical 3D prints or digital files for commercial gain without explicit merchant authorization from the designer.
